Her debut single went straight to the top of the iTunes Christian charts and now Juanita Francis is readying the next projects that will be released soon.
The London singer songwriter, who is the eldest daughter of Bishop John and co-pastor Penny Francis of Ruach City Church, received rave reviews for her track Fall Afresh. But the song, which dropped on Good Friday is just stage one. Not only does she have an EP on the way, she revealed exclusively to the Sound Doctrine that she’s also writing a book. In it, she will be open and honest about her own testimony.
“I’m writing a book about my journey, letting people know a bit about me,’ she said. “A lot of the time, people see you but they don’t see the journey that it takes, and the process. I want people who don’t go to church to see that there is another way and there is a God who cares about you and who cares about what you’ve been through. I’m working on it at the moment you can look out for it really soon.”
But make no mistake. Juanita is fully focused on her music and the EP will be the first priority. It will be out late summer and will feature her music mentor Maranda Curtis, her dad Bishop John Francis, Cheryl Fortune and a surprise thrown in for good measure. It was recorded in the US over the space of a week with Dana Sorey in the producer’s chair. Yes, that’s Dana Sorey, who has also worked with Jason Nelson, Tye Tribbett and Marvin Sapp.
It’s all a whirlwind that started with Maranda Curtis (who Juanita met through Twitter) hearing a performance of Fall Afresh and falling in love with it. It wasn’t long until Juanita was hooked up with Dana Sorey. We’re counting down the days until we get our mitts on the new music. Fall Afresh was a great place to start.
A full feature on Juanita Francis is coming soon to the Sound Doctrine.
