Big Church Day Out Spotlight: Seth & Nirva

Seth-Nirva-PressPhoto-2You may be more familiar with the work on Seth & Nirva than you realise. Seth has lent his vocals to the likes of Kirk Franklin, Chris Tomlin and CeCe Winans. Nirva spent a decade as a dancer in TobyMac’s Diverse City group. Now they’re stepping out to release their debut album with a performance at Big Church Day Out.

So what business does a backing dancer have in a singing musical duo? Well Nirva is multi-talented. She was also a member of the Fisk Jubilee Singers in Nashville. It’s a well rounded CV that only works in her favour. We know Nirva has great stage presence. One of our favourite performances at Big Church Day in 2010 was TobyMac and the energetic dancers were a big part of that.

Make no mistake, both Seth and Nirva are already accomplished artists in their own right, drawing on a whole heap of musical influences to make a sound they call their own. The husband and wife duo from Florida are not just followers of Jesus but students of the music they create. You cannot call them one trick ponies; they are eclectic and exciting.

Big Church Day Out comes at the perfect time for the couple. Seth & Nirva’s album Never Alone is released on 27th May, the day before the start of Big Church Day Out. They’ll be treating us to some of the new tracks from the project and no doubt gaining a fair few fans in the UK.

Our tip? Check out Pour It Out (featuring DJ Maj). It’s our standout favourite and we think you might like it too.

Seth & Nirva will be playing the Illuminate Stage at Big Church Day Out on Saturday.
