Tobymac, Israel Houghton, Matt Redmond and Newsboys are among the names to headline the Big Church Day Out 2011. Guvna B, Jahaziel, LZ7 and Philippa Hanna will be appearing on the UCB Stage over the weekend.
But perhaps the biggest change to the Big Church Day Out is the cancellation of the Midlands date with the organisers explaining it wouldn’t be cost effective enough to stage a two venue festival next year. In 2011, the event will only take place at Wiston House, West Sussex on May 28-29. As a concession, ticket holders from this year’s Midlands event will be offered free camping for next year as well as half price second day tickets.
It might mean you’ll have further to travel but if next year’s Big Church Day Out is anything like last year, it’ll be worth it. We had a blast and the huge crowd made for a great atmosphere. We managed to pass through the marketplace and the tea tent and we’re elated to say that they’ll be making a return next year. We weren’t prepared for how popular the tea tent would be last year – it was packed!
Some of the artists will be coming back to the event after popular performances last year. Since the 2010 show, Guvna B has picked up a well deserved MOBO, LZ7 has hit the national charts with their ‘Let it Shine’ single and Israel Houghton has released another hit album. It just goes to show what a different a year makes and hopefully everyone will bring something fresh to their sets next year.
