Tab Worship took me by surprise this week. When their new song arrived in my inbox, I expected more of the same, which for Tab Worship is a good thing. They’re consistently good, but consistently a worship group. The clue’s in the name.
But then I pressed play.
Everything UP, their new single, came out today and it’s not what you think. It’s a new direction for them, and that direction is UP. When the trap beat hits, you can tell straight away you’re going to be taken on a journey into new territory. It’s catchy, it’s hip hop influenced, it’s Tab Worship but not as you know it. Whereas with previous Tab Worship songs would be what I’d have on in the background during morning prayer, this one is to dance and get hyped to. And I love it.

While going down a Spotify rabbit hole the other day, my wife discovered the Sunday Service Choir. This week has been an opportunity to revisit their 2019 album Jesus is Born. It’s held up very well. Coincidentally, they released some new music recently, and if we’re talking about musical surprises this week, who would have thought we’d see the rapper T.I. collaborating with the Sunday Service Choir and Kirk Franklin? Put your scepticism aside for a second and listen objectively and you’ll probably like it. It’s called Thank God.
